Scanning Handwritten Notes
How to use Berea's camera scanner to digitize paper notes.
2 min read
If you take handwritten notes at church, Berea can scan them and turn them into a searchable, enhanced text entry — complete with summaries, prayers, and study tools.
How to scan notes
- 1Tap the + button on the home screen.
- 2Select Scan Notes.
- 3Point your camera at your handwritten notes. Berea will automatically detect the page edges.
- 4Tap capture (or let auto-capture fire). You can scan multiple pages.
- 5Confirm the scan, then tap Use Scan.
- 6Berea runs OCR on the image and converts it to text.
Tips for accurate scanning
- Use good lighting — natural light or a well-lit room works best.
- Lay the notebook flat on a solid surface rather than holding it.
- Print or write clearly. Berea's OCR handles neat handwriting well but may struggle with very fast or cursive script.
- Dark ink on white or light-colored paper gives the best contrast.
After OCR, the text goes through the same processing pipeline as any other sermon: polishing, summary generation, prayer extraction, and quiz creation.
Tip
You don't have to scan your entire notebook — even a single page of bullet points can generate a surprisingly detailed summary and study session.
