Going Deeper

Cross-references, interpretations, and resources for deeper study.

2 min read

The Going Deeper section helps you explore the sermon's scripture passages more thoroughly — useful for personal study, small group preparation, or simply understanding a difficult text.

Cross-references

For each major scripture passage mentioned in the sermon, Berea suggests related passages from elsewhere in the Bible. These are drawn from both Old and New Testaments and filtered for relevance to the sermon's specific theme — not just concordance matches.

Interpretations

Difficult passages often have multiple valid theological interpretations. Berea presents the major interpretive frameworks for each tricky text, with your denomination's preferred reading highlighted. This is particularly valuable for:

  • Apocalyptic passages (Revelation, Daniel) where eschatology varies widely.
  • Paul's letters, where debates around law, grace, and works are tradition-specific.
  • Old Testament prophecy and its fulfillment in the New Testament.

Discussion questions

Going Deeper includes 5–8 discussion questions suitable for a small group or personal journaling. These go beyond the summary questions and ask more interpretive, reflective, and application-level questions.

Tip

Going Deeper is a Premium feature and is best used the day before your small group meets — it gives you 20–30 minutes of substantive preparation material.
